MAC has to be one of my favourite brands. I have tried many products from primers to eyeshadows and fallen in love with every product. So when i saw MAC were teaming up with Disney and creating a Cinderella Range i was extremely excited. Not only am i a big lover of MAC i am also Disney obsessed! The morning of the launch i went online and decided to order two items from the range totaling £40.00. Twenty minutes after i had ordered them the entire range was out of stock! I was quite shocked at how quickly everything sold.
So why am i a little disappointed and doing my first ever MAC mixed review!
MAC Cinderella Iridescent Powder | £23.00
I decided on this pretty powder as i loved the pink and thought it would give a gorgeous colour to my cheeks. When i opened it i was in love, the shade looked gorgeous! I used my Mac 127 brush and i have also tried my Real Techniques Blush Brush to apply this pretty in pink powder known as "Coupe D'Chic". I was very disappointed at how little pigmentation there is! Because of the lack of pigments i actually use this as a highlighter. It does work well as a highlighter but its a shame it doesn't live up to the usual MAC standards.
MAC Cinderella Lipstick in "Royal Ball" | £17.00
With two lipstick shades to choose from, one being nude and one being pinkish. I decided to go with the light pale pink shade as i have too many nude lipsticks. Again when i opened the lipstick it was as shown on the website a pretty pale pink colour. When i applied the lipstick it wasn't pink at all, it is a sheer lipstick with a hint of glitter/shine. I have since tried the lipstick on top of nude shades and other shades and it works well just to add that extra shine.
The Packaging
I do love the light lavender blue packaging, the shade is very Cinderella. I do think the gold does make it look a little cheap. I understand the writing being gold which i quite like but i dont like the chunks of gold on the lipstick and powder compacts.
Above i am wearing both the powder and lipstick. As you can see the powder works as a highlight and the lipstick is very pale. Please excuse the messy hair and lack of makeup as i mainly wanted to show of these products only.
I am quite sad to have been disappointed with this range as i was like a kid in a sweet shop! Have you tried anything from this range?
That's such a shame they aren't too amazing, but I guess some promotional collections can be hit and miss! Won't need to waste my money then haha!

I dont usually go for the collections but i thought i would treat myself with this one, i will get use out of them but the quality is not like it should be x
DeleteI love your honesty! I agree about the packaging - it is very disney, but slightly cheap looking for MAC. I never managed to pick anything up due to it being sold out but might try still, I don't know if it is worth the hype though!
ReplyDeletethe-fashion-rose.blogspot.co.uk
If the gold was maybe more metallic looking rather than plastic it would of made it look more high end, i am happy i will use them but its a shame the quality isn't great x
DeleteMakes me feel better since I missed out then. I've noticed quite a lot of people selling their products since they received them due to disappointment.
ReplyDeleteLike you I was truly sucked in because of the Disney partnership but I completely missed it all :p
I still think they look good on you but agree about the poor pigmentation
EyelinerFlicks
For MAC the pigments are crap, not their best at all x
DeleteI was gutted that I couldn't pick up any of the range but this has made me feel a little better!
ReplyDelete♥ Fran - www.frannymac.com xx
I have seen alot of people upset they didnt get anything but it honestly wasn't worth the hype at all x
DeleteI though these products looked cheap-ish too - i love your honesty!
ReplyDeleteYou should sell them online if you're unhappy with them, people are making a fortunate on ebay with the lipsticks going for about £37 buy it now - might be worth it?
I'll be sticking to the standard MAC products but again, great review.

I think if the gold part was more metallic then it would look better, its a shame its not what you would expect x
DeleteVery nice, and the packaging is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just think the packaging looks very cheap
DeleteThats a shame! I'd really love to try these new MAC products! the packaging is so pretty! x
ReplyDeletethefrancescadiaries.blogspot.co.uk x
I do like the lilac colour but the gold looks tacky x
DeleteThat's such a shame as they were both pretty pricey! I feel like with most Mac collections it's the packaging that draws many people rather than the product itself, I'm in love with the packaging for this one! x
ReplyDeleteBlushhx
This is my first mac collection i have bought from, just a shame its not what i expected x
DeleteI got both the lipsticks and the lipglasses but havent had a proper play with them yet! was really hoping for good things with this collection as I love nude shades xxx
ReplyDeleteLaura | Tease Flutter Pout
I wish the lipstick was more nude than sheer :( x

it's a shame about the pigmentation, I normally just purchase the normal mac products x
ReplyDeleteHannah | Heyitshannaah
i buy alot of mac and loved every product, i have never bought anything from their collections until this one so its a little disappointing x
DeleteWhat a shame! :( I wasn't too excited about this collection other than the powders but looks like I'll be giving those a miss too now! xx
ReplyDeleteMagpie Jasmine
When you look at them you would think there would at least be a hint of pink but there isn't at all, its such a shame :( x
DeleteI managed to get my hands on Royal Ball too & thought about getting the blush.
ReplyDeleteBut after reading this I'm so glad I didn't... I also thought the lipstick was paler than it looked online, but luckily I do still love it (would have been pretty upset if I ended up hating it lol).
This was the first limited addition collection that I've really been interested in from MAC but I'm not sure I'll stress so much over them in the future.

Small&Blonde ♥
This was my first collection too, the lipstick did look darker online but even in person i still thought it would show up as more nude than sheer x
DeleteI quite like the packaging but agree with the gold chunks make it look a little cheap. Such a shame the pigmentation isnt there, not like mac at all x
ReplyDeletegillmclaughlin.com
MAC are usually always on point with pigmentation but this time its shocking. Maybe if the gold was metallic and not plastic looking it would have been better x
DeleteTotally agree with you that the packaging looks cheap, it's the reason I didn't buy anything from there xx
ReplyDeleteHalcyon Velvet
I thought the products themselves look good as its shades i like but the pigmentation ruins it completely x
DeleteYesterday I found myself desperate to get some then I thought why just for the hype. I think they look cheap too and the colours weren't great especially the lipsticks.

I love nude/pinky shades thats why i got some but the pigmentation let me down, i dont buy the collections usually this is my first x
DeleteI think the shades and products themselves look great but the packaging looks a little tacky in my opinion - although everyone seems to be going crazy for it x
ReplyDeleteHeather | Of Beauty & Nothingness x
I agree the gold is tacky and as it looks like cheap plastic it ruins it. I could live with the packaging more if the actual product was good x
DeleteI went into my local MAC on the launch day and they had sold out before 10am! I was gutted I didn't get my hands on anything! Great honest review x

I wasn't too bothered thinking i "must" have something, i went online as i got the email to remind me but i dont think i will end up using the lipstick much x
Deletelovely lipstick and packaging too :)

I think I want this collection purely for the packaging! xx
ReplyDeletelotsofloveliz.blogspot.com
I read few bad reviews on this Cinderella collection! I think they put all their effort in the packaging (which is adorable) but less on the actual products ! it's a shame.
ReplyDeleteNice blog by the way :)
PS: I am following you now :)
http://allornothing-blog.blogspot.co.uk/
What a shame you didn't love them :/ I wanted some of this collection but held back in the end because I realised that I loved the fact it was "Cinderella" and I loved the packaging, but I just didn't want any of the actual products! It's a lot of money to be disappointed. x
ReplyDeleteAlly | www.uptownpeach.blogspot.co.uk
I admit, I got a Cinderella lippie only because of the packaging. I got the nude one and works well as a topper over darker lipliners :)
ReplyDeletepassingfancyy.blogspot.com
Sorry you didn't get on with it. It's refreshing to read such an honest review. At least the packaging is beautiful! :)
